At the beginning of his career he worked for Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos from 1995 to 1998, combining this activity with specific teaching and research tasks as Collaborating Professor and Associate Professor of Projects II in the Department of Projects at the E.T.S.A. of Seville.
In 1999 he co-founded the firm Laguillo-Schönegger Architects actively from 2000 to 2019. His work in this period received the First Work Bauwelt Prize 2005 for the Indoor Swimmingpool of Lepe (Huelva), also as finalist for the 2005 Spanish Architecture Prize And the 2007 FAD Architecture Award for the Antequera Judicial Seat (Málaga), also nominated for the 2007 Mies Van der Rohe Award. The whole of his work was selected for International Exhibitions such as the Young European Architects Exhibition 2004 (Naples), the 9th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial 2007, as well as the XI Venice Biennial International Architecture Exhibition 2008.
In 2007 he co-founded the firm EDDEA and co-directed until the end of 2019 a large part of the projects and works of public buildings, which obtained as main recognitions the 2012 Architecture Plus Award And fFinalist of the Philippe Rotthier European Prize for Architecture for the Refurbishment and Extension of the Hermanos Laulhé Outpatient Clinic in San Fernando (Cádiz). Also finalist for the 2011 ENOR Award And the AIT Awards 2012 for the Indoor Pool of Barbate (Cádiz), and shorlisted for the 2020 ENOR Award And finalist for the 2019 Brick Award And 3rd Prize 2020 AIT Awards for the High Resolution Hospital Center of Cazorla (Jaén).
Since 2020 he leads his firm Laguillo Arquitectos Asociados from Seville (Spain).
