The solution that won the tender for the Transport Interchange, Hotel, Office and Commercial Towers, associated with the base station of Line 1 of the Seville Metro, takes as its starting point the urban development conditions for this land, as well as the conditions set out in the technical specifications that governed the tender.
As opposed to the solution proposed in the Bases, we proposed a commitment to the fragmentation of the program and the displacement of the Interchange to the northern area of the plot on the semi-basement level, connecting at this level with the Metro Line 1 station. With this operation we responded to several issues.
To free the first floor from its use as an interchange, avoiding interference between users and tertiary services. And to move public transport to the level of the first basement without losing the attraction of having natural ventilation and lighting that give this facility a unique appeal. A clear and simple operating scheme that avoids interference between the different flows generated, thus streamlining the displacements.
The location of the towers starting from the level of the square will give them greater prominence. They will be the most iconographic elements of the operation. By allowing them to clearly reach the ground, we give them greater slenderness and representativeness, modifying the landscape of the new city of Mairena del Aljarafe.
The hotel towers and the offices will be connected by a two-story building that resolves the contact with the ground, acting as an intermediary between the towers and the topography of the park generated on the roof of the interchange. The towers have been resolved by defining their perimeter through a polygonal line.
In this way we emphasize their verticality by means of pronounced vertical shadows and reflections. The irregularity of the perimeter also allows the image of the same to vary with the angle of vision, obtaining as a final result, two elements with a certain degree of abstraction, immediately recognizable.
