The new judicial headquarters is located on the outskirts of the town of Antequera in the province of Málaga, in a recently created residential neighborhood. The impossibility of establishing a dialogue with the context prompted the development of a contained and compact architecture, which, without renouncing its great representativeness, would be appropriate to the scale of the site and adequate to the functional needs of users and workers, with pleasant interior spaces in which concepts such as clarity and transparency would materialize.

An expressive volumetry is designed by raising a longitudinal prism on a platform from which a tower emerges. The main entrance is through a double-height lobby from where the public dimension of the building is perceived and in which only small articulation and control elements segregate the necessary circulations in the different areas. A linear scheme is proposed along the main façade that attempts to clearly solve the problem of the separation of the routes. The uses directly related to the public are arranged on the ground and second floors. From this level rises the vertical piece that contains the rooms of the courthouse. Below ground level is the program for facilities, archives and detainees, divided by a central corridor with restricted access that practically divides the floor in two.

The urbanization of the exterior took into account, on the one hand, the pedestrian access to the building, with very variable influxes of people in time and hours, which led to the recessing of the building and the development of ramps, one of them slightly staggered to overcome the unevenness of the terrain.

On the other hand, the reservation of restricted surface parking spaces for personnel was considered, for which a new rear road was introduced with a battery of parking spaces directly connected to the workers' access, also including an entrance ramp for police and judicial vehicles.

The choice of material and color of the facade is intended to convey a high degree of solidity. To this end, the brick walls are clad with prefabricated fiberglass reinforced concrete (GRC) panels with a surface finish, dyed in mass, made on a discontinuous striated mold in depth and separation that allows hiding the vertical joints between panels, thus achieving a monolithic quality interrupted only by deep holes that penetrate the public spaces of relationship.
